Fair Results

Today was the judging at the county fair.  I received a phone call this afternoon from a fellow Home Extension member, she said the judging was over and I could come collect my pie.  I went right after work to the fairgrounds, imagine my surprise when I got to our table and found out my pie won a red ribbon.  I wanted to jump up and down screaming my pie won a ribbon!!!  Look my pie won a ribbon!!!

Well the pickles didn't do so well. Sometime during the evening the seal popped, great they didn't even get judged, just a note saying these are not sealed.

My pie won a ribbon!!!

Here is the recipe if you are looking to make an easy pecan pie

1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup dark corn syrup
3 large eggs, beaten
1 1/2 to 2 cups pecan halves
2 tablespoons of Old No. 7 (Jack Daniels)
1 (9-inch) deep-dish pie shell unbaked.

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a medium bowl, stir together the sugar and melted butter.  Add the corn syrup, eggs, pecans and Old No. 7, and  stir until all ingredients are combined.  Pour mixture into an unbaked pie shell, and place on a heavy-duty cookie sheet.  Bake for 10 minuets. Lowe the oven temperature to 350 degrees F, and continue to bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until pie is set.  Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack.

Servings 6 to 8
